Hyderabad: Putting an end to a 54-day high drama in a family dispute, a city court on Thursday dismissed the plea filed by TRS leader Srinivas Reddy, who was arrested for assaulting his wife, Ms Sangeetha, and ordered that he pay her a monthly maintenance of Rs 20,000. The court ordered that Ms Sangeetha along with her child will stay in her husband’s house and that he should ensure a safe atmosphere for her in his home.

Overjoyed by the court order, Ms Sangeetha withdrew her hunger strike and along with her daughter broke open the lock on the door of her husband’s house and entered after two months.

Mr Srinivas Reddy was earlier arrested in November after throwing Sangeetha out from his home, when she opposed his third marriage. Since then she was not allowed to enter the house and had been protesting outside.

Mr Srinivas Reddy filed a counter in the court, after Ms Sangeetha approached the court seeking justice. The court after hearing arguments, passed an interim order, dismissing Mr Srinivas Reddy’s petition and passed orders in Ms Sangeetha’s favour.

The court ordered Mr Srinivas Reddy to pay a monthly maintenance of Rs 20,000 to Ms Sangeetha and to allow her along with her daughter to reside in his home at Medipally. The court stated that there should be a safe environment for the woman and the child and neither the husband nor the in-laws should trouble her or interfere in her daily activities.
