Hyderabad: The MANUU is ready to start an off-campus in Karimnagar from next academic year 2018-19.

Karimnagar was chosen for an off-campus as it has highest density of Urdu speaking population in Telangana after Hyderabad.

The State government has already handed over five acres of land to the varsity administration and also provided Rs 10 crore as seed capital for the campus. The administration intends to offer ITI trades and polytechnic courses in the off-campus.

Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, VC, MANUU, said they were waiting for a nod from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the campus.

“Once the UGC gives approval, the university will start admissions for off-campus at Karimnagar from academic year 2018-19. Classes will be in a temporary building and simultaneously permanent ones will be constructed,” he said.

Recently, a team led by Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar and officials of Telangana State Council of Higher Education had met UGC Chairman Prof DP Singh and urged him to approve the off-campus at Karimnagar.
