Hyderabad: The State government has proposed to start more canteens to provide meals at Rs 5 to the poor. Stating that these canteens would be called ‘Annapoorna,’ the Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao said the scheme has been given budget of Rs 15 crore. The canteens would be established near hospitals and labour colonies.
There are about 109 such canteens functioning at present under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits and the number would soon go up to 150. Stating this in the Assembly during question hour, the Minister said the TRS government’s aim is to provide sumptuous meal at an affordable price to the people.
